The aim of the Garden working group is to learn the basics of sustainable urban agriculture. Last year we had a plot in the Cherry Park Community Garden (Kitchener) and we collectively grew organic vegetables. Most of us were novice gardeners so we shared our little knowledge and learn together, which was part of the fun. Our harvest was donated to a local charitable organization.
This year, 2015, we’re planning to have again a plot in Cherry Park Community Garden and work it collectively. If you are interested in participating, please contact us. The first meeting of the year (2015) will be around end of March or beginning of April. Also this year, we’re planning to organize some workshops at the garden so that we can learn from more experienced gardeners. Our future plans also include the organization of a contest to award the best edible backyard gardens and edible balcony gardens.
Today, I completed the final harvest in our Permaculture Garden at Willow Green. There was just a few things left at this point – eggplant and parsley. I will use the eggplant in a baba ganoush or potentially a ratatouille. Parsley, of course, is a benefit to many dishes. I … Continue reading
